About Floral Talent
The industry is full of talented people who are impossible to find.
I came to floristry sideways, from software design and UX research, and I love how this craft uses design to make people really feel something.
When I started asking fellow florists how they hired people or got jobs for themselves, it was clear that both sides were in pain. Studio owners posted to Instagram, then sorted through a flood of DMs or emails to find someone who could actually do the job. New designers were told to cold-email business owners to offer to “wash buckets for free” just to get noticed, or join a private WhatsApp group to find job openings and gigs. One owner described going days without eating or sleeping trying to staff a wedding weekend — not because the talent wasn't out there, but because there was no straightforward way to find the right people.
My husband Matthew is a software engineer and former product manager who immediately agreed this was a problem worth tackling, so we spent our spare nights and kid's sports practices noodling on the best ways to solve it. The answer wasn't an agency, and it isn't just a job board — any job site can post a studio job, but then you're going to get 600 applications from people who think they'll just get to play with flowers. The foundation had to be profiles: a way for skilled people to show exactly what they do, so the right match can happen before anyone fires off a DM.
Floral Talent is currently in beta, and we're building it with input from the community. If you want to share feedback or just talk shop, we'd love to hear from you.
